Peter Stevenson has worked with some of the largest real estate owners, developers and managers throughout the United States since 1976. In 1985, he developed and introduced the first comprehensive system for measuring and managing building square footage, Computer Assisted Real Estate Management (CAREM). Peter’s experience in the practice of building measurement has led to his creating The Stevenson Standard – an extension of the BOMA Standard – which has widely become known in the industry as “the blue ribbon” or “gold” standard.
Before starting Stevenson Systems, Inc., Peter served as a Construction Manager, and Production Manager for a national Architectural company and Vice President for an international architectural design and construction company.
An Industrial Design graduate of Brigham Young University (1973), with subsequent post-graduate work in the field of real estate and marketing at the University of California, Los Angeles (1977-78), Peter has a keen in-depth understanding of architecture, construction, and the effects of square footage and building measurement to both building owners as well as tenants. Furthermore, he endorses the ongoing maintenance of building information and square footages in accordance with industry standards.
He and his company are consultants to numerous national and international real estate companies setting policies and standards for the measurement of their real estate and processing of real estate information.
Peter continues to assist in the ongoing authoring of BOMA Standards, and is on the Advisory Board for the application of square footage measurements with respect to the American National Standards since 1978. He is also a member of BOMA, Urban Land Institute, and the Institute of Real Estate Management.
